  • Pick your Destination

Before picking up your gear and attire, you need to make sure to choose a destination for rafting that matches your caliber and abilities. For a beginner, it is very important to choose the destination, duration and the level of rapids.Rapids classification ranges from level 1 to level 4. Level 1 and 2 are best suited for white water rafting.

  • Dress Up Suitably

What should I wear? Isn’t that the first thing to cross your mind in case it is your first time at river rafting? For footwear, all you need is something that fits you well and stays on your feet something like sports shoes, sneakers, river sandals or water shoes. For clothes avoid anything that is made from cotton or denim as it would just soak in all the water and make you feel uncomfortable all the way. Wear something that absorbs less water. For instance, tank tops and quick drying sports shorts are good to go. The choice of your apparel should depend on what time of the year you decide to go. For winters you can even choose wetsuit, polar fleece or fiber cloth.

  •  Paddle with the Team

In a river raft of 7-9 people paddling with the team will only help you in reaching your destination; you alone won’t be able to move it. A good team paddling great strokes ensures a smooth and steady rafting. Make sure to follow the lead to stay in sync.

  • Swim

Once you’ve fallen in the water you got to swim to reach back to your team. Above each rapid, your guide will inform you about the obstacle to avoid, and which direction to swim in case you cannot get back to the boat, so do not panic.

  •  Listen to your Guide

Since you’re a beginner you must not do anything on your own. Listen to your guide carefully and make sure to follow all the instructions he/she gives you.
